Honoring Marina S. Leite
University of California, Davis

Submitted by Margaret A. Duncan

Prof. Marina Leite is a leader in the fields of photonics and photovoltaics, as well as a staunch advocate for women in STEM. She serves as an advisor for many female graduate students, and volunteers with many outreach organizations related to increasing the number of women in engineering. For her students she promotes many opportunities outside of the lab, including conferences, summer schools, volunteer opportunities, and career path meetings focused on different areas of industry. These meetings helped inform my future career path, and have made me feel more confident to enter the workforce. I am honored to have her as my mentor, as her passion and creativity in research have inspired me to reach new heights in my graduate education and beyond!
