John R. Whinnery Chair Professor Emerita of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, University of California, Berkeley
Connie Chang-Hasnain is the Founder and Chairperson of Berxel Photonics and Whinnery Chair Professor Emerita at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a Fellow of Optica and IEEE, and an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering. She served as Optica's President in 2021. Prof. Chang-Hasnain was also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Lightwave Technology (2007-2012). Her research interests range from semiconductor optoelectronic devices to materials and physics, with current focus on nano-photonic materials, vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) and their applications.
Hao Sun
Associate Research Professor, Tsinghua University
Hao Sun received her Ph.D. in electronic engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2015. From 2011 to 2014, she was an Exchange Student with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California at Berkeley, USA. She is currently Associate Research Professor at Tsinghua University and an Assistant Editor for Photonics Research. Her research interests include the development on-chip silicon-compatible active devices based on 1-D nanowires and 2-D layered semiconductors.
