Photonic Skin-Depth Engineering and Universal Spin-Momentum Locking of Light
Hosted By: Nanophotonics Technical Group
19 August 2016 14:00 - 15:00
Eastern Time (US & Canada) (UTC -05:00)Classical electrodynamics keeps throwing surprises at the nanoscale which can aid quantum photonic applications. Join the OSA Nanophotonics Technical Group for this webinar featuring a presentation from Dr. Zubin Jacob of Purdue University who will describe two such recent fundamental advancements in nanophotonics.
First Dr. Jacob will be discussing photonic skin-depth engineering, where the long-standing challenge of confining light beyond the diffraction limit can be achieved by controlling total internal reflection. Next Dr. Jacob will then discuss universal spin-momentum locking, where light shows a unique intrinsic polarization coupled to its momentum similar to electronic surface states in the quantum spin Hall Effect.
What You Will Learn in the Webinar:
- New developments in nanophotonics including photonic skin-depth engineering and universal spin-momentum locking.
Who Should Attend the Webinar:
- Graduate students, postdocs and researchers interested in plasmonics and metamaterials.
- Nanophotonic scientists and engineers working on the development of plasmonic devices and nanocircuits.
