Get your marshmallows ready and grab a seat around the campfire! The Optica Technical Group on Fiber Modeling and Fabrication invites you to join them for a campfire session exploring mid-infrared fiber lasers and bringing technology to market.

This campfire session will start with a talk from Dr. Ori Henderson-Sapir. Dr. Henderson-Sapir will be discussing his work on developing mid-infrared fiber lasers and starting Mirage Photonics, as well as his career. Following the talk from Dr. Henderson-Sapir, the remainder of the campfire session will be open for discussion so come with your thoughts and questions ready. You will be able to turn your camera and mic on or off to participate as you choose.
 

About Our Speaker: Ori Henderson-Sapir

Dr. Ori Henderson-Sapir has more than 10 years experience developing mid-infrared fiber lasers and is one of the inventors of the dual-wavelength pumping technique to improve laser efficiency. Dr. Henderson-Sapir obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Adelaide in Australia with the Lasers and Optics Group working on the development of mid-infrared fiber optic lasers. He then divided his time as an Optics and Laser Engineer at Ellex Medical and as a Research Associate at the University of Adelaide continuing his work with mid-infrared fiber lasers. He always had a keen interest in the commercialization of the mid-infrared laser technology, so in 2017 he founded the laser start-up Mirage-Photonics together with Dr. Ka Wu. Ori then joined the Precision Measurement Group at the Institute for Photonics and Advances Sensing (IPAS) working on cryogenic sapphire oscillators ultra-stable clock development and commercial maturation. In 2020, Ori returned to researching mid-IR fiber lasers and to pursuing their commercialization.
