Sponsored Webinar: How to Improve the Signal Acquisition for Optical Measurements

19 October 2021 11:00 - 12:00

Eastern Time (US & Canada) (UTC -05:00)

In research fields such as spectroscopy or imaging, the goal is to measure increasingly small effects or fast processes. Whether these are phase changes induced by a THz transient or absorption changes observed with spectroscopic techniques, they often share the same challenge: recovering a small signal covered in noise. Lock-in amplifiers are ideally suited to this task, as they average the signal of interest while suppressing spurious noise. In this webinar, Claudius will look at well-established techniques – linear spectroscopy with multiple lasers, THz time-domain spectroscopy and laser scanning microscopy – to provide practical guides for different setups in optics and photonics. You will learn how to capture your data in the most efficient manner and how to tune the measurement settings to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio in your experiment.

Speaker

Claudius Riek, Application Scientist, Zurich Instruments

Claudius Riek is an Application Scientist based in Zurich. With a background in physics, he specialized on ultrafast non-linear optics and quantum electrodynamics. At Zurich Instruments, he supports customers to find the best instrument for their measurement concept. If you meet him at a conference, ask him about the evolution of vacuum fluctuations in space-time, the most recent developments in quantum computing instrumentation, or tell him what you are passionate about – he will be interested in learning more.
