Speakers

Géraldine Artaud, Expert in High Data Rate Transmissions for Space in RF and Optics, CNES

Geraldine Artaud has been working for CNES since 2006. She is working on space to earth high data rate communications in RF and optics, and she is involved in the study of future systems using optical data transmissions for space.

Dr. Klaus Kudielka, Senior System Engineer, Synopta GmbH

Klaus Kudielka received his PhD 1997 from Vienna University of Technology, Austria. After a 2-year research on low-order adaptive optics at the Communications Research Laboratory, Japan, he joined Contraves Space, Switzerland, developing opto-electronic subsystems for space. Since 2016 he is supporting the development of optical ground stations at Synopta, Switzerland.

Dr. Nicolas Védrenne, Manager of the High Angular Resolution Unit, ONERA

Dr. Nicolas Védrenne is the manager of the High Angular Resolution unit of ONERA, the French Aerospace Lab. The HRA team is a 30 people research unit dedicated to the development of concepts, models and systems to understand and mitigate the influence of optical defects on image formation and beam propagation through complex media. His research topics are optical wave propagation and adaptive optics. He was in charge of the development of TURANDOT, the wave optics code dedicated to the simulation of atmospheric turbulence on ground-satellite laser links. He is in charge of the FEEDELIO project for ESA aiming at the experimental demonstration of the pre-compensation by adaptive optics for GEO feeder links.

Dr. Armin SCHIMPF, Team Leader AO Systems, ALPAO

Armin Schimpf received the diploma degree in electrical engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, in 2008. He obtained his PhD in integrated optics from the University of Grenoble, France, in 2011. Since 2013, he is with ALPAO, where he leads the adaptive-optics systems division.
