Praveen GuptaVice President, Corporate Investment & Development, HTC, USA  

Praveen has extensive background in investments, partnerships, M&A, strategy, and general management He is currently Vice President of Corporate Investment & Development at HTC focusing on Virtual/Augmented Reality, Smartphone, and IoT technologies. Praveen held similar role at SK Telecom with focus on Mobile and IoT technologies. Earlier at CDIB Ventures, as a Partner, he managed $150 million across 2 VC funds with several successful investments in Enterprise Software, Infrastructure, and Semiconductor companies. He has authored three books related to Venture Capital. Praveen has held management and technical roles at Lucent, Ericsson, ICL, and Halliburton. He has MBA and M.S. in Physics, EE, and Computer Science


 

Hong Hou, Executive Vice President & CTO, Fabrinet, USA  

Dr. Hou joined Fabrinet as Executive Vice President and its Chief Technical Officer in January 2016. He has extensive technical and executive-level experience in the compound semiconductor and fiber-optic communication industries. In 1998 Dr. Hou co-founded EMCORE Corporation’s (NASDAQ: EMKR) photovoltaic division and led in the commercialization of its high-efficiency multi-junction solar cell technology for space power applications. From 2008 to 2015, he served as EMCORE’s President, CEO and a member of its Board of Directors. From January 2015 to June 2015 he served as a venture partner at ARCH Venture Partners, and from June 2015 to January 2016 he served as the Chief Operating Officer of AXT, Inc. (NASDAQ: AXTI). Dr. Hou holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at San Diego, and he has completed executive management courses at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Early in his career he conducted research at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Sandia National Laboratories. He holds eight U.S. patents and has published more than 200 technical articles.

 


Michael JanseInvestment DirectorSamsung Ventures, USA

Michael is an investment director at Samsung Ventures, where he focuses primarily on cloud, data center, AI, and semiconductors. He was formerly an investor with ARCH Venture Partners and Harris & Harris Group. His experience in the IT and semiconductor industries includes corporate development and new business strategy at ARM Ltd., and sales and engineering at Motorola Semiconductor. At ARM, Michael focused on mobile, Internet of Things, information security, and image processing. He also founded two startup companies, one in semiconductors and the other in the medical materials space.


 

Doug Kreysar, Chief Solutions Officer, Radiant Vision Systems, USA 

As Chief Solutions Officer, Doug Kreysar heads Radiant’s engineering, product development, operations, and marketing teams to ensure the successful implementation of customer solutions worldwide. Under his direction, Radiant’s optical technologies for light and color measurement have become known as the gold standard for production applications.


With a background that includes engineering, physics, and management, Kreysar has overseen multiple departments at Radiant since joining the company in 2000 - spanning production and finance to marketing. Prior to Radiant, Kreysar was head of the optical design group at North American Lighting, Inc. (NAL), a major automotive exterior lighting supplier.

Kreysar received a B.S. in Physics from Vanderbilt University, and an M.S. in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is the author of multiple technical papers and a regular speaker for organizations including the Society for Information Display (SID). He has been the recipient of an Excellence in Oral Presentation Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers. Kreysar holds eight US patents.



Jacob Mullins, Partner, Shasta Ventures, USA

Jacob focuses on investments in the Emerging Platforms sector which includes Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Computer Vision and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality.  Jacob manages the Shasta Camera Fund, a dedicated pre-seed targeted fund that backs visionaries developing products in AR/VR and camera-first Computer Vision applications. He is the lead investor in CameraIQ.  An active community organizer, Jacob runs VR Tuesdays and AR Kitchen Office Hours – monthly Bay area meetups focused on the business side of AR/VR & Mixed Reality. He was recently named a Kauffman Fellow, selected as one of the top tier investors for the two-year elite leadership program.
 

 

Gene Munster, Managing Partner, Loup Ventures, USA

Gene Munster is a managing partner and co-founder at Loup Ventures. Prior to Loup Ventures, Gene was a managing director and senior research analyst at Piper Jaffray where he covered technology companies including Apple, Amazon, Google and Facebook. During his 21- year tenure, Gene received many acknowledgements including: Top Stock Picker from Forbes, Best on the Street from The Wall Street Journal, and was widely recognized for his work on Apple. Gene holds a bachelor's degree in finance and entrepreneurship from University of St. Thomas. 

 


Pat O'Connor, GM Silicon and Sensor Development, Microsoft, USA  

Pat O’Connor is GM of Silicon and Sensor Development at Microsoft. Based in Microsoft’s Silicon Valley Campus, Pat manages a team of chip development and camera and sensor development engineers spread across several Microsoft campuses in the US. His team developed a 1Mpixel 3D Time of Flight sensor and camera, video and computer vision cameras and inertial sensors for Microsoft devices such as the Kinect Camera and Microsoft Hololens Mixed Reality Headset. Pat joined Microsoft in 2010 as part of the acquisition of Canesta, a 3D Time Of Flight sensor innovator based in Sunnyvale, CA, where he was VP of Engineering. Before joining Canesta, Pat held senior development roles in Aureal, an audio processing chip company, Rockwell Semiconductor and Analog Devices.



Michael Powell, Woodside Capital Partners, UK  

Mike Powell is the Managing Partner of WCP UK LLP,  focusing on the TMT and advanced materials sectors. He has advised multiple companies on  M&A , financing, corporate strategy and tactics. Extremely well connected internationally in, Europe, the North Americas and China he has particular focus on photonics and efficiency technologies and brings 25 years of senior level experience, leading, advising, managing and negotiating corporate projects and transactions for both private and public companies. He is the organizer of TM&A Europe , an annual exclusive conference of top corporate development executives and growth companies from the sector.

Prior to founding Woodside Capital Partners UK LLP,  from a background in defense contracting with GEC Marconi, he founded, funded, grow and then sold three business; IOC international PLC, K2 Optronics Inc and Pelikon ltd.

 

Maryanna Saenko, Senior Associate, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, USA  

Maryanna Saenko joined DFJ as a senior associate in 2017 with a focus on pursuing investments in groundbreaking technology companies. Prior to DFJ, Maryanna was an investment partner at Airbus Ventures, the early-stage investment group of Airbus, where she led a number of deals focused on early-stage aerospace and deep technology companies. Maryanna also worked with Lux Research’s autonomous systems group where she served as a strategic advisor to Fortune 100 companies covering technological and market developments on the path to an increasingly automated world including: autonomous vehicles, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, and artificial intelligence. Maryanna is a frequent industry speaker on the future of automation, including recent appearances at Robobusiness, Unmanned Systems Institute, and CES. 

Maryanna completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees at Carnegie Mellon University, after which she became a research engineer and worked on projects ranging from autonomous vehicles to MEMS devices for wireless power transfer. 



Greg UrbanExecutive Director, Automotive Technologies, UBS Investment Bank, US 

Greg Urban has 11 years of Investment Banking experience and 8 years of experience at UBS. Greg has completed more than 60 transactions, including M&A advisory work and equity and debt capital markets financings.  Within GIG, Greg leads UBS's coverage of the automotive technology, mobility and industrial technologies sectors. His key focus areas include autonomous vehicles, electric powertrains, vehicle connectedness, and advanced manufacturing technologies.  

In a prior career, Greg spent 5 years at Ford Motor Company as a Noise Vibration & Harshness Product Development Engineer where he collaborated with suppliers and Ford management to set vehicle level performance requirements, design vehicle systems and resolve vehicle performance and manufacturing issues.
Greg received an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University.
 

 

Jan Vardaman, President & Founder, TechSearch International, USA  

E. Jan Vardaman is president and founder of TechSearch International, Inc., which has provided market research and technology trend analysis in semiconductor packaging since 1987.  She is the co-author of How to Make IC Packages (by Nikkan Kogyo Shinbunsha), a columnist with Printed Circuit Design & Fab/Circuits Assembly, and the author of numerous publications on emerging trends in semiconductor packaging and assembly.  She is a senior member of IEEE CPMT (now EPS) and is an IEEE CPMT (EPS) Distinguished Lecturer.  She is a member of SEMI, IMAPS, and MEPTEC.  She received the IMAPS GBC Partnership award in 2012.   Before founding TechSearch International, she served on the corporate staff of Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC), the electronics industry’s first pre-competitive research consortium.     

 


Luca Verre, Co-Founder & CEO, Prophesee, France

Luca is the co-founder of Prophesee and has served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer since 2014. He has extensive international management experience and a background in the automotive and electronics industries. His experience includes project and product management, marketing and business development roles at Schneider Electric. Prior to Schneider Electric, Luca worked as an engineer with Toyota and Altis Semiconductor as well as a Research Assistant in Photonics at the Imperial College of London.  

Luca holds a double first class MSc in Physics, Electronic and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and Ecole Centrale and an MBA from INSEAD.



Andre Wong, Senior Director, Produst Line Management, Lumentum, USA  

Dr. Wong is the Sr. Director of Product Line Management at Lumentum responsible for the company’s Industrial and Consumer Diode lasers business and emerging markets.     

Dr. Wong was educated at the University of British Columbia in Canada where he obtained a PhD in Materials Physics.  After obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Wong was an NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Post-doctoral research fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, where he conducted research in fabricating low photon count detectors using CMOS sensors.

From 2000 to 2008, Dr. Wong held various R&D positions at SDL, then JDSU, then moved to the Product Line Management position in 2008. Dr. Wong has been a champion and evangelist for the 3D Sensing business at Lumentum for many years.  His leadership and guidance has been instrumental in achieving Lumentum’s leadership in 3D Sensing.

Dr. Wong has won many awards, hold several patents and publications.
