I have been fortunate to learn from Dr. Winnie Ye. She is not only a pioneer in the field of Photonics but also is an exemplary leader. My fondest memories are the times of my dissertation, where even, being in her final stages of pregnancy, she helped me to review my thesis and successfully present it, showcasing her undeterred passion and dedication. She not only encourages her students to excel in all walks of life, but also helps in raising awareness and promoting women in engineering.
