Millie was approachable and generous, not only to her students and close colleagues but to many of us in our community if we were lucky enough to work with her. Whether it was at her 80th birthday celebration or a conference in Russia celebrating Zhores Alferov’s Nobel Prize, she found ways to connect and support us.
