Honoring Nachum Ordman, John Midwinter, Eric Ash

I was lucky to have these 3 in my life. Nahum Ordman, an exceptional physics teacher: inspiring and kind, teaching me the basics. Eric Ash, my first Head of Electronic & Electrical Engineering Dept at UCL, became a lifelong mentor, writing me countless references, always supportive and kind. John Midwinter, taught me about optical fibres, and was a hugely supportive Head of Dept when I came back to UCL to start the Optical Networks Group, providing encouragement, critical advice and support.
