Chris was the type of supervisor that was completely down to earth, knowledgeable, dedicated to working hard, passionate about solving problems and not afraid of going into the trench with you and help dig for answers to your research questions. He balanced the art of giving just enough freedom for you to grow with the right amount of guidance to make sure you didn't get lost. Even when you were clueless, Chris would have your back and support, helping you to achieve the best in you.
