Diode-Pumped Dy:KPb2Cl5 Laser at 4.2-4.45 μm (ATu4A.1)

A Dy:KPb2Cl5 laser oscillating at 4.4 μm under diode laser pumping at 1.7 μm is demonstrated for the first time. Maximum output pulse energy of 0.3 mJ was achieved at 5.2 mJ of absorbed pump energy.

Spectroscopic Evaluation of Er3+:Ga2Ge5S13 Glass for Mid-IR Laser Applications (ATu4A.2)

Spectroscopic properties of Er3+:Ga2Ge5S13 glass are reported for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The low maximum phonon energy of the host and a millisecond-long nearly temperature-independent fluorescence lifetime of the 4I9/2 level, make this material promising as a gain material for Mid-IR laser applications.

Comparison of Spectroscopic and Laser Properties of Cr2+,Fe2+:Zn1-xMnxSe (x ≈ 0.2 and x ≈ 0.4) Single Crystals Under Er:YLF Laser Excitation at ~1.73 µm (ATu4A.3)

The Cr2+→Fe2+ ions energy transfer under ~1.73 µm excitation of the Cr,Fe:Zn1-xMnxSe (x≈0.2) single crystal is reported for the first time. A comparison with the sample containing ~2× higher Mn amount (x≈0.4) is included. Mid-IR lasing from Cr2+ ions at ~2.3 µm and ~2.5 µm, and from Fe2+ ions at ~4.4 µm and ~4.75 µm of both samples is presented.

QCL-Seeded Femtosecond Optical Parametric Amplifier Operating Beyond 4.5 μm (ATu4A.4)

We demonstrate a femtosecond optical parametric amplifier seeded by an external-cavity QCL, with up to 200 mW average power. The system can operate beyond 4.5 μm, with a tuning range of 300 nm (4400-4700 nm) and a pulse duration <350 fs.

Soliton Self-Frequency Shift up to 4.6 µm in an InF3 Fiber (ATu4A.5)

A femtosecond soliton pulsetrain at 2.8 µm was nonlinearly shifted up to a record wavelength of 4.62 µm in an erbium-doped ZrF4 fiber amplifier followed by a low-loss passive InF3 fiber.

Mid-Infrared Lasing of Ce3+-Doped Chalcogenide Glass (ATu4A.6)

First observations of mid-infrared lasing of a Ce3+-doped material are reported. When pumped by a 300-µs pulsed Fe:ZnSe laser emitting 250-mJ at 4.08 µm, the Ce-glass laser emits about 0.5 mJ, centered at 5.3 μm.

Long Wavelength Multi-Watt Dysprosium Fiber Laser for Resonant Polymer Ablation (ATu4A.7)

We demonstrate a dysprosium fiber laser emitting 3 W of continuous, single-mode power at a wavelength of 3.42 µm, the longest wavelength for a multi-watt Dysprosium fiber laser, corresponding with an absorption band of polyethylene.

Towards Multi-Milijoule Short-Pulse Mid-Infrared Fluoride Fiber Amplifiers (ATu4A.8)
