About Esther Hoffman Beller
Hoffman Beller lived predominantly in New York City. She attended Hunter College of the City University of New York, graduating in 1915 with a BA in Teaching. She went on to graduate from Teachers College of Columbia University in 1919 with a Master’s degree, and received a P. Diploma from the College in 1920. She died in 1992.
About William Charles Beller
Beller earned his PhD in electrical engineering from Columbia University under the direction of Michael Pupin. He was an accomplished microscopist and pioneering researcher in the electronics industry, holding key patents in electronics research development. His research involved synchronous convertors used in overcoming radio interference, experiments in television, and research into x-ray tubes.
He also had many interdisciplinary interests. He was proficient in Sanskrit, Greek, Latin, French and German language and literature.
William C. and Esther Hoffman Beller have contributed to a number of awards and educational programs at other organizations such as the American Physical Society, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Hunter College.
